VidaTalk releases ADA compliant solution

Good care starts with knowing what a patient needs, and that isn't always easy. VidaTalk helps patients communicate when barriers like a breathing tube, a medical condition, or a different language make it hard for them to be understood. Those same patients may also have impaired vision, weakened hands, or trouble concentrating, so the communication tool has to work for them, too.
That's why we're excited to share that VidaTalk is now ADA compliant. We’ve made enhancements to the User Interface (UI) that conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at Level AA, with some critical UI aspects at Level AAA.
WCAG is an internationally recognized standard for making digital products usable by people with disabilities, including those with low vision, hearing loss, limited movement, or cognitive differences. While level AA is commonly used by organizations as their benchmark, we used this standard as the minimum and made additional enhancements to specific features that are critical to patient care.
Version 2.2 added requirements for touch and other pointer input, such as a minimum size for tap targets and an alternative to dragging gestures. These changes help people with limited dexterity or tremors, including patients whose hands are weak. They also assist clinicians or family members using VidaTalk who have a disability of their own.
If your organization receives federal financial assistance from HHS, you may already be working toward the Section 504 rule on web and mobile app accessibility. Meeting the requirement involves much more than any one tool, but if you are looking for an ADA compliant patient communication or AAC solution, VidaTalk can help.
